_12/11/02-800 Octane, Compact 56, Two the Front [Bend Community Center, Bend]_

Ahh, new venues. It's always fun going to see a show in a venue you've never been to before. What will it look like, how will it sound, will disrespectful kids destroy it and prevent any other shows from occurring? Two the Front, Bends only emo band, opened this show. Their 3 piece group features bongos instead of drums and put on their usual good show. They seem to be getting better with every show they play. Next up was Portland's Compact 56. This was the first time I've been able to catch these guys live, and I hope it won't be the last. Their melodic punk/hardcore sound was really tight, and all of the members of the group put a ton of energy into their set this night. The lead singer sure does like to say fuck. Amen. They put on a stellar performance, and if we're lucky we'll see them come down to Bend again. Next up was 800 Octane. They're probably the most popular out of town act we get here in Bend, and they have yet to disappoint. I've written many a review about these kids, and I don't know what I can say that I haven't before. They rock, so check them out. And the lead singer has a tank. Overall the show turned out very nicely, with a great turnout for a Weds night in Bend. The Bend Community Center could be an incredible addition to the scene here as they were great to work with, and the venue itself is nice, large, and sounds good.
