_10/21/02-The Punk O Rama 2002 tour featuring Guttermouth, Authority Zero, GOB, and 1208 [The Crystal Ballroom, Portland]_

Ok. So the Punk O Rama tour. Well now, I have to say right off the bat that I expect anything with "O Rama" in the name to be WAY cooler. Not wanting to wait in line we hung out downstairs for awhile, and entered the show midway through 1208's set. I thought they sounded pretty decent. They played Punk Rock. GOB was up next and they didn't do much for me. They were ok, but not outstanding. Their final song was a cover of the Stones 'Paint It Black', and let me say that it doesn't bode well when a cover song is the bands finest piece of the evening. Eh. Gob played punk rock. Authority Zero was 3rd, and they did pretty good. I've seen them before and I liked them. Their sound is kind of a reggae influenced Punk Rock. Guttermouth was last, and I just wasn't into them at all. They were ok. They called girls "bitches" a bit too much for my tastes, but they were really cool about letting people come up on stage and dance around. Oh, Guttermouth plays, big surprise, Punk Rock. The sound on the balcony at the Crystal sucks I've discovered, but getting a nice seat right at the edge provides a totally cool view of the entire show, and is perfectly situated for watching assorted kids get carried out of the crowd bleeding. Yay Punk Rock. Our friend Simon the EMT had to take someone to the hospital from this show. Yay Punk Rock. I watched a fat kid lift his shirt up and ask people to do something to his nipples, I couldn't really tell what. Yay Punk Rock. We sat behind a 30-40 year old couple who were there with their kids. The woman had metal hair and kept flipping it back towards us, and then would reach back and shake it with her hand, making us cover our drinks with our hands and looking at each other in disgust. Yay Punk Rock. The show kinda sucked, and I had to drive. At any rate, I don't think I'm Punk Rock enough for the Punk O Rama tour.
