Players bar has yet to disappoint
me with their shows. But I'm told that I'm just lucky and manage to catch the
good ones. The crowd here seems to usually be pretty cool, and even though
it's a small venue the sound is decent. Smaller venues tend to lend themselves
better to shows in my humble opinion. There's a closeness you get from being
right next to the bands as they play.
Tonight's show featured a band from
Vancouver, WA: I Know
Kung Fu. Besides having a catchy name these guys know how to rock.
Something tells me that these boys like to partake of the alcohol, as many of
their Irish ballad-ish style songs are about drinking, bars, barstools, etc.
They're not afraid to try different styles, as some songs switch from your
standard punk rock sound to a ballad to metal and then right back to punk
again. They put on a great show and even did a Motorhead Cover. With any luck
we'll see them get to see them come back to Bend soon. The ConfedeRats
were the only other band this evening and they put on their normal excellent
show. These guys are very tight, and put on one of the best punk shows I've
seen in Bend. It's refreshing to see local boys kicking this much ass but
remaining super cool. Tonight's show seemed kind of short, but perhaps that's
just because I'd like to see them play longer. The crowd always loves these
guys, singing along and dancing to their favorite songs. A few fans stepped on
stage to help sing along, and they had Ashley from the Ginas hop on
stage for one full song as well. Yet again the Rats didn't fail to
impress me and put on a great show.
