News:
07/01/07 Um, yeah, no real news. Had some computer issues that held up any show listings for awhile. As always, please send me an email if you're aware of anything upcoming that I don't have listed. Have a great summer everyone! 09/14/06 Holy crap. What's up with the lack of shows? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? 03/10/06 Uh, first news in like 4 months...sorry, nothing is really new. Look below! There's a whole bunch of upcoming shows. That's pretty exciting. ALSO: Do you have a cellphone with WAP access? Go here: http://www.geekass.com/wap and see if it'll work on your phone. If it does: AWESOME, email me and tell me. If it does not: LAME, email me and tell me. Please include what provider you're with and what type of phone you have. Ok, that's it. 12/25/05 So we go from zero shows to eight! That's what I like to see. 11.28.05 Holy crap, there is only one show listed down there. This will not do. 03.27.05 Remember when I was complaining about people vandalizing venues, drinking at shows, and causing problems? And how I said it was part of the reason why we keep seeing venues shut down? Well guess what? The Sons of Norway announced that this past Fridays 800 Octane, Thirty3, Blue Turns White show would be the last one at their hall. Good job people. 03.27.05 You might notice that the trusty forums are no longer here. Well, sometime this weekend the site got hacked by Turkish hackers. Thus far it looks like only the forums were affected, files were changed, and all of the posts were deleted. I don't have the time at the moment to go through and see where the problem lies, so I decided to simply remove the forums altogether. I'll work on getting them back up and running as fast as I can. Sorry gang! If you need to post something important about an upcoming show you can always email me and I'll post it on the main page of the site. 03.05.05 I need money. Anyone interested in purchasing a Steyr M40 or a Franchi LAW12 from me? They're way cool and will boost your scene points, I swear. Also, can anyone confirm that Paint By Numbers show on the 23rd of April for me? Thanks. ~P.J. 01.26.05 Do you guys see all of those 21+ show listings down below. A large part of the reason why that sort of thing happens is because venues are sick of renting their space out to shows that are all ages due to the assorted vandalism, fights, and other bullshit that goes on. They have less problems at a 21 and over show, even though they'll have a full bar and a room full of adults drinking. They might be drunk, but at least the adults are responsible. C'mon kids, think about that next time you want to spray paint a wall, break a window, or show up drunk and start a fight because someone pushed you while you were in the mosh pit. Or just don't bitch about it to me the next time you want to see a show and can't. And I know there are plenty of you who respect our venues, our bands, our scene in general. But it only takes one person to ruin a venue for good. Next time you see someone doing something that'll cause a problem why not simply ask them not to do it. A little self regulation never hurt anyone. ~P.J. 01.10.05 Well everything should be back to normal here now. We've switched servers, and the name server info as well. With any luck things'll be running smoothly from here on out. We haven't updated as much in the last month due to technical issues and lack of time. Please keep those show listings coming in. Happy new year kids! ~P.J. 12.05.04 It looks like we'll be moving to a new server, so there may or may not be some issues in the next few days. Don't worry things will be back to normal in no time. ~P.J. 11.16.04 No news is good news, right? Um. Yeah. So there hasn't been anything worth putting up as news. AND my computer decided to die on me for a while, so I didn't have a chance to do much more than update the show listings. Central Oregon has seen some good shows and some bad shows in the last couple of months. And I'm sure the trend is bound to continue in the months to follow. Ayup. ~P.J. 09.20.04 If you have any information about who vandalized the exterior of the Sons of Norway hall please feel free to drop us a line. C'mon people, odds are if you're at a show you'll probably want to go to more shows. Deciding to leave the concert to spray paint crap on the wall of the venue or make a mess in the parking lot will do nothing but ensure that sooner or later the venues will get sick of putting up with the disrespect of the audience towards their buildings and stop allowing us to have punk concerts. I've seen it happen more times than I can count in Bend, and I just wonder how long the trend will continue. Try to self regulate yourselves, and your friends, if you wish to keep seeing music of this type in Central Oregon. We've got a great little scene for a town our size, some awesome promoters, good bands, and for the most part the crowds are wonderful. I'd hate to see it all end because of one or two bad apples. ~P.J. 09.16.04 Remember that article about how to put on a show? Well how about one about how to attend a show? Send me your input about any changes you wish to see. ~P.J. 09.09.04 Well, here we are. Don't worry, I'm not shutting down the site. In fact: I've decided its time for a new look for Geekass. In the coming weeks I'll be going through and updating the entire site to a new format. I'm still undecided as to which style I'll be keeping, so things might change even more than they already have. Currently only the main page, archives page, links page, venues page, and about page have been completed. The massive amount of reviews and articles in the archives will be the last to change. Right now the archive update is limited to a few reviews and the most recent rant. I'm changing things around in an attempt to clean things up a bit. When I first started the site I didn't really know what I was doing. I taught myself html, and how to use various photo programs, and consequently some of the code was pretty dang messy. I've learned a little more about nerdy web design stuff since then, and with any luck things will load much faster, and run far smoother now. This initial layout is designed to be very simple, with no fancy graphics to load, no weird javascript for site navigation. Just the info, plain as can be. I've kept the basic colors the same, but that might change at some point. Right now its formatted to look best in IE v.5.0+ at 800x600. Keep checking back for more, keep sending me your show information, and thanks for using the site! Keep in mind we're still looking for guest reviews. Any feedback on the new design is much appreciated, let me know what you think. 'Everybody dance like there's ass in your pants.' ~P.J. |
